Well, the good news is that we are about 95% done recording. We've selected the best songs, started the process of artwork, and gotten the record into some hands to be mixed. the bad news is that the mixing process this time is going to take a little longer. So what we have is a near completed record that we're sort of just sitting on. It's weird for us. We're used to putting out 3 records in this time...but we're more excited about this one, I think, than any previous project.
Stay patient. These songs are really beautiful and have given us a lot to hope for. We'l keep you posted.

So we are looking at late summer now?
hopefully not. I think once we find the right mix guy(s), it won't take more than 6-8 weeks. I think we're getting close.
I picked up the Gadsby hymnal at a Derek Webb show the other day...it really is amazing stuff.
Thanks for continuing to bless us.
Cool news, Clint. Thanks for the update.
BTW, I saw a pic of you w/ little Chapman Caver the other day . . . you look happily uncomfortable!
Thanks for the feedback. It really is nice to know that people are looking forward to this new record. This one really is our best yet, and taking this much time is really paying off sonically. Plus it's allowing us to determine much better which songs belong on the record and which ones don't.
We just tracked two new songs within the past few weeks that are really great, and I'm glad that they'll be on the record.
I'm a big fan of your first 3 cds. With all the work you guys are putting into this one, I can't wait to hear it.
Anonymous - Glad you got a copy of the hymnal. Plan on writing anything from it?
Rae - I loved holding that baby! Liz was the most uncomfortable I think I've ever seen her. Do you know Danielle and Gabe?
Jeremy - Soon and very soon.
Brandon - Thanks for the support. The new record is going to better better than the last three for sure.

Clint - Yeah, I'm a friend of Danielle's. I don't live in B'ham anymore (and neither does she, obviously), but we still keep up.
looking forward to post-production and to listening to the finished products guys, you've done some really fantastic work.
rae- clint actually really loves to hold babies...i'm actually fairly confident he has more maternal instincts than me.
i'm the anonymous above-
i actually have done some reworked hymns, and hope to record them at a friend's studio probably at the start of the summer. nothing from gadsby yet though. at any rate, once i lay down some demos, ill send you a copy.
is it silly to think that you might have copies of the new cd when you all travel to nc in a couple weeks?
TB - Not silly. Just unrealistic. Our goal, initially, was to have the record in our hands to take on the trip with us. Unfortunately the last few phases of the recording process are taking longer than we would like.
We may post some stuff on our myspace page but most likely we'll all just have to be more patient. Believe me, no one is more anxious to get these songs out than we are.
This group of songs really is some of the best work we'ev ever done. Thanks for the comment. Will you be seeins us in NC?
lord willing and the creek don't rise we'll be at Peace in Cary to hear you all!
our 12 yr old son is learning to play the harmonica... is there any harmonica on any of the songs you'll be playing in cary that i can tell him about?
also, how did you all decide which songs to put on the new record?
TB – I may write a post soon about how we select our songs. That’s kind of involved. Great question, by the way. Also, tell your son that harmonicas are awesome! I think I bought my first harmonica when I was 12, and just killed the thing I played it so much! I don’t think we’re going to have any harmonica in our songs in NC, but if your son comes I’d be glad to give him some pointers on how to play (if he wants pointers from a guy who doesn’t know what he’s doing, but loves the harmonica…)
See you soon!
look forward to hearing some of the new songs next week!
it was last year that we heard you in mebane, nc, at a highly edifying concert.
i had posted something about the concert at igrace forum. after that a dan hames said something like "Bring on Gadsby 2!"
was wondering who he was and found his blog http://danhames.blogspot.com/ which has been a major blessing since then.
a side benefit of hearing you all last year!
tb - yes I know dan and have gotten to be friends with him, well, as much as you can be friends with someone over the internet, I guess. we've met a lot of really beautiful people because of this music. It's a real honor, actually.
look forward to seeing you again this coming weekend...
